Last weekend I randomly decided to take the T into the city and just walk around and take some pictures. I took one lens, an 85mm f/1.8, and just wanted to see what I could get. The weather has been great lately, let’s hope it stays this way. Most of it is architecture/random shots. I never know what to take pictures of when I’m walking around the city, maybe one day I’ll get enough courage to ask random people for portraits. Keep reading to see some of the pictures I took!
Most of these pictures were just taken spontaneously/randomly as I saw things I liked. Most of them turned out nice, but lack of subject matter makes them not so terribly interesting in my option. Oh well, here they are. All taken with a Canon 5D mk II and 85mm f/1.8.

Gross alley. Seriously smelled really bad. It also looks like there’s a guy sitting behind the trashcan…

Danger: your car may fall through the street.

People, probably lost, outside of the State Street T stop.

Everyone was taking pictures.

I got really close to this bird. It was weird. Then it flew away as I was still trying to take a picture.

Probably my favorite of the day because of the sun/glare…

Another favorite, although very simple. Has a film feel to it.

Horsetrait: Horse portrait. Lots of people taking rides around downtown.

I took a ton of pictures like this…didn’t know which ones to use without overwhelming people with hundreds of pictures. Architecture is kind of interesting, especially when there is symmetry involved. Or really tall buildings.

Peering.

Was trying to get the ironic “car broke down in the road” (van on the right of the frame) picture, but didn’t really work out. I guess I was just too lazy to go over there.

Photo on the move.

Another picture that I thought I would like a lot, but came out kind of confusing and too busy.

I think I’d be scared of going on those stairs.

Dark/light.

Some graveyard. I’m not sure, tourists seem to like exploring these but I don’t see the appeal. Stuck my camera through the fence for this one.

Colorful ties. Another favorite of the day.

And uh, I’m not sure. Homeless people sleeping on the common. I think the guy was on his way back into his wheelchair as I walked by and snapped this.

Walking through the common.

And…people still ice skating. Seriously, I watched them for maybe 2 minutes and saw at least 20 people fall. Ice skating isn’t that hard. There was one old dude tearing it up, full out with a Sony cassette player clipped to his belt. Straight dancing on the ice. Pro.
Well, that’s it. Not much of an experience here, other than the experience of leaving my apartment tot take pictures for the first time in a few weeks. Err, months even. Now that it’s warmer and I (hopefully) found some people to skate with, I’ll be taking some more interesting photos and learning to use my flashes all over again.
Also now that it’s warmer I’ll be training on my bike a whole lot more. Still planning on a ride down the East coast…which reminds me, I need to get a G9 or similar (smaller) camera to take with me and document that.

Dude, awesome shots. I may have to make a weekend trip to Boston this Summer.
